Walker Stalker Con: WSC Boston 2015 is this weekend
For those of us suffering from Walker Withdrawals, it’s all we can do to keep ourselves going between seasons of The Walking Dead. Like Rick and the rest of the survivors, we’ve limped from one month to the next, better nourished and in less danger than they are, but feeling only slightly less desperate. Some days we wonder if we’ll make it through the agonizing wait for TWD season 6.
On the same weekend that Fear the Walking Dead promises to finally provide us with relief from our withdrawal symptoms, we are also given the latest Walker Stalker Con event. Fans of The Walking Dead will gather this weekend to celebrate the love that our fandom has for everything walker related at Walker Stalker Con in Boston. The event will take place on August 22-23 at the Westin Boston Waterfront.
I’m extra excited about the Boston con, since it will be the first one that I’ve ever attended. While neither of my favorites from the show, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, will be appearing in Boston this weekend, a full line up of stars will be there, including Michael Cudlitz (“Abraham“), Chandler Riggs (“Carl“), Lennie James (“Morgan“) along with many others, whether or not their characters were lucky enough to be alive at the end of season 5. Click here for the full lineup.
As is sometimes the case at these cons, there are several extra events scheduled besides the usual photo ops, autographs and panels. This time around there will be two additional events. First, there will be a concert by Emily Kinney (who played “Beth” until her character died in season 5) on Saturday night at 7:30pm, which will require separate tickets. Both VIP and general admission are available here.
The other special event is called Apocalypse Zombie Experience, which is billed as “a total immersion experience using Tactical Laser M4’s while making your way through an apocalyptic nightmare, shooting zombies as you go.” This unique experience will be open on the convention floor on both Saturday and Sunday. Though it will run during the con’s hours, separate tickets will be required.
If you can’t be at Walker Stalker Boston, just remember that this is the second to last con before season 6 premieres, so it’s another milestone to tell us that we’re getting close. After this weekend, only Walker Stalker Philadelphia in late September will stand between us and October 11. It may be only August, but as far as I’m concerned, we have almost made it to October!
