Diane Kruger has added hashtag “#eventhoughImabigfanImnotpartofDeath” to her photo on Instagram with Game Director Hideo Kojima, simmering down rumors.

Earlier, we reported that actress Diane Kruger could potentially be joining boyfriend Norman Reedus in in the cast of upcoming PlayStation 4 title Death Stranding. Speculation had been heating up that Kruger was potentially the female protagonist of the upcoming project. Particularly, after being photographed with Game Director Hideo Kojima during her visit to Tokyo while on a promotional run for her latest film, In the Fade.

Kruger has now calmed down the fan frenzy by confirming that while she is a big fan, she’s not a part of Death Stranding with an added hashtag “#eventhoughImabigfanImnotpartofDeath” to her Instagram photo circulating online.

It seemed like a natural fit to have Kruger be a part of the title but it appears that the actress was in Tokyo only to promote In the Fade. Kojima being seen with her and In the Fade Director Fatih Akin is now publicly confirmed to be non-Death Stranding related. Despite the connection to Reedus, it seems this is another rumor like the earlier Emma Stone photoshop last year that will go down in the game’s development history.

Now, there’s still a chance the hashtag is a deflection till E3 to hold back on a major character surprise. Stranger things have happened in the gaming world. However, for the time being, we have no choice but to take Kruger at her hashtag. The rumor mill will have to placed on hold.

Death Stranding was nominated for Most Wanted Game at the 2017 Golden Joystick Awards. Fans following Kojima’s next big title have speculated endlessly in classic Metal Gear-style fashion about every single teaser and Tweet released by Kojima Productions, Kojima himself, and assistant Ayako. Tirelessly trying to piece together the pieces of its plot ahead of release date.

Theories have gone wild and while the Kruger rumor is easily the most formidable recent rumor, it appears not to be. Although judging by the roaring reaction to the rumor, maybe a cameo/easter egg appearance is suddenly not out of the question. We do have Ermac in the Mortal Kombat series after an EGM fan letter story after all.
