The wait for The Walking Dead to return to AMC is almost over. The third part of season ten of the series will return on February 28. If you have AMC+, the first episode is available to stream right now.

Going into, what is called season 10C, we know we will see a couple of new characters. We briefly met Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari) when he made his wickedly impressive entrance when he saved Aaron and Alden in the woods. Then he appears alongside Maggie as they save Father Gabriel.

There is also a newcomer Cole (James Devoti), the bearded man seen in the promo videos and photos. He is seen accompanying Maggie, Elijah and Kelly. We also see him in the sneak peek video of “Home Sweet Home,”

Since Maggie has been gone many years, she has, no doubt, come across many other groups of people, and she had to have settled somewhere during this time. It will be interesting to see who else we will meet along the way.

What other new characters can we expect to see?

As far as season 10c is concerned, we also know we will meet Leah (Lynn Collins) in “Find Me.” From what we know, she has some connection to Daryl and his time away from the communities while he was searching for Rick.

In “One More,” we will meet Mays (Robert Patrick). In the table read for this episode, we see him confront Gabriel, and things don’t look like they will end well.

Season 10c will give us this handful of new characters. But, what about season eleven.

Showrunner Angela Kang has told Digital Spy that we can expect more new characters in the final season.

"There will be a lot more story that comes in season 11 where we’ll meet a lot of new characters, but this will start that train rolling. The world of our survivors is continuing to expand as they’re running into new groups and new survivors."

It seems we will see more of Elijah and Cole going into season eleven. Hopefully, we get more backstory on these two as they seem to enter the storyline with Maggie.  We do know the C. Thomas Howell will be reprising his role in the new season. He has been very active on his social media with photos during filming and with cast members.
