The Walking Dead’s eleventh and final season premiere is quickly approaching. August 22, the series will return to AMC for the beginning of the end. This is a bittersweet moment in the fandom as fans have dedicated years to this franchise and have become vested in the lives and stories of the characters.

AMC has released a new trailer titled The Walking Dead Trilogy. The trilogy refers to the eleventh season being released in 3 parts. Each part will consist of 8 episodes for a huge final season of 24 episodes.

In addition to the weekly reveals that have shown new photos, episode titles, and teaser trailers, a four-episode series, The Walking Dead: Origins, has also been released.

The Walking Dead Trilogy season 11 trailer

The weekly reveals have given fans a glimpse into the first part of the season. The Reapers are a main focus from what the reveals show us. It looks like they may head to Alexandria, and that could bring on unrepairable destruction to the already weaken community.

The other major focus is on the Commonwealth. In the comics, this community is 50,000 survivors strong and has made major strides towards bringing back civilization as it was before the outbreak. The Commonwealth soldiers are holding Eugene, Ezekiel, Princess, and Yumiko, so there will be more to that story as well.

There are also many loose ends that need resolution. The hope is we will see at least some of these resolved during the final season.

The new trilogy trailer takes us on an emotional flashback of seasons past, featuring many of the characters who are no longer in the series. With Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) stating that famous line, “We are the walking dead.” We hear many of the characters speak during this promo, and at the end of the 2-minute trailer, we see some amazing footage of the finale season.

We see the group in the subway tunnel, like the photo here, but we finally get to hear something from this scene. Daryl stops and says, “Shh, listen.” This isn’t much to go on, but it’s more than we’ve had. We know this group is on a supply run, and things take a bad turn. This photo also shows some new characters.

We also see Yumiko in a Commonwealth soldier uniform looking at The Wall of the Lost. This wall has notes, photos, and other items for missing people that survivors at the Commonwealth are looking for. The theory is that Yumiko could take on MIchonne’s storyline from the comic. In the comics, Michonne is reunited with her daughter, who resides in the community.

There is a clip of Michael James Shaw in the red uniform of his character Mercer. And, an intimidating look at the Reapers, who seem to be in full-on Purge mode.

It’s amazing how much can be packed into a two-minute video.
