Ian Anthony Dale and Laurie Fortier join Walking Dead cast for season 11
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead has slowly revealed new cast members for the final season of the series. This final season will consist of 24 episodes released in 3 parts meaning fans will see episodes into the second half of 2022. As filming for the entire season is about halfway finished, we will most likely see new announcements for more characters. Deadline has reported that this week Ian Anthony Dale and Laurie Fortier have joined the cast.
Ian Anthony Dale (Hawaii Five-0) has been cast as Tomi, a member of a recently discovered group. He could be a member of the Reapers or even the Commonwealth.
Stop reading if you don’t know the speculation surrounding his character.
Tomi or Tommy is supposedly Yumiko’s brother. This mirrors Michonne’s comic book story where her daughter found her via The Wall of the Lost. If you remember the photo that has been circulated had the names, Miko and Tommy, on it. This is the orange piece of paper we see Yumkio, dressed as a Commonwealth soldier, looking at on the wall. This will be an amazing arc to see if Yumkio’s whole story will pick up Michonne’s comic book story.
Laurie Fortier (Unsolved: Murder of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.) is cast as Agatha, and nothing is known about this character. I believe she is seen in one of the tunnel scenes, but this still doesn’t tell us much about her.
The Walking Dead season 11 new cast
With the introduction of two new groups, we are bound to meet new characters. It might seem pointless as this is the final season, but the Commonwealth in the comics is a largely populated community that requires many actors.
New cast:
Michael James Shaw – Mercer
Margot Bingham – Stephanie (we only heard her voice in season 10)
Jacob Young – Deaver
Glenn Stanton – Frost
Marcus Lewis – Duncan
C. Thomas Howell – Hilltop Resident (we saw him briefly in season 9)
Laila Robins – Pamela Milton
Josh Hamilton – Lance Hornsby
Ian Anthony Dale – Tomi
Laurie Fortier – Agatha
We will also see the return of James Devoti as Cole, Kien Michael Spiller as Hershel Rhee, Okea Eme-Akwari as Elijah and Jackson Pace as Gabe, one of the kids who attacked Lydia.
The eleventh season of The Walking Dead appears to start as a very dark and dismal period of time. Things are bleak where Alexandria is concerned, and with the additional threat of the Reapers, the episodes will be very intense.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on August 22 with the premiere episode of season 11. AMC+ subscribers can stream this episode one week early.
