The Walking Dead made a powerful comeback with the midseason premiere of season 11. “Lockdown” was the first episode of the last eight of the series. It picked up soon after the events of the midseason finale that aired in April 2022, “Acts of God.”

The episode saw Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton) begin as the hunter and then become the hunted and, soon after, captive. Daryl (Norman Reedus) sent Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to the Commonwealth to inform Mercer (Michael James Shaw) and Carol (Melissa McBride) of what was happening outside the walls of the community. Governor Milton (Laila Robins) had her hands full dealing with protesters demanding justice for her son Sebastian’s (Teo Rapp-Olsson) crimes. The episode ended with Daryl holding a knife to Hornsby’s neck.

On Sunday, October 9, The Walking Dead will return with episode 18, “A New Deal,” which will see Carol negotiating with Milton to keep her friends out of trouble for their actions. Aaron (Ross Marquand), Jerry (Cooper Andrews), Lydia (Cassady McClincy) and Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari) will travel to Oceanside to fill them in on the plan. And, despite all the ongoing problems, the Commonwealth still holds its Founder’s Day festivities.
