The Walking Dead: Dead City not coming to AMC in spring 2023
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead: Dead City is an exciting new addition to The Walking Dead universe. The spinoff series will see the return of Maggie and Negan on a new adventure as they team up to rescue Hershel. This new mission will take them to apocalyptic Manhattan, which has been overrun by a horde of walkers 1 million strong. Dead City will undoubtedly look much different than the wooded setting of the flagship series that ended in November 2022. When does Dead City premiere?
Lauren Cohan has played Maggie since season 2 of The Walking Dead, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan portrayed Negan beginning in season 6. With the main series ending, many characters’ stories were tied up with the series finale, but Maggie and Negan will have much more stories to tell in the new series.
Dead City will also see the return of Maggie’s son Hershel, but since this series will take place a few years after the events of The Walking Dead’s last episode, this role has been recast. Logan Kim will play Hershel in the new series.
The Walking Dead: Dead City release date
Dead City won’t be coming to AMC in the spring, but fans will be happy to learn that on June 18, 2023, at 10 p.m. ET, it will premiere on AMC and AMC+. The first episode of this new series will air immediately following the midseason 8 finale of Fear the Walking Dead.
In 2023 another spinoff series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, will premiere in the fall. This series follows Daryl, the character played by Norman Reedus, to France. Daryl Dixon will also be a drastic change from the main series.
