The man behind the incredible portrayal of Dr. Eugene Porter himself, Josh McDermitt, celebrates his 45th Birthday today! A big old Happy Birthday to Josh from all of us! Eugene first appeared on our screens in 410 “Inmates,” standing behind Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) and Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos).

That was just the start of these three characters becoming some of the most loved in The Walking Dead Universe. And at the end of it all, Eugene remained strong as he lost his two best friends but kept going. And thank goodness he did as in the finale 1124, “Rest In Peace” he found his happy ending by marrying Max Mercer (Margot Bingham) and settling down in the Commonwealth with their child.

However, it’s not just Eugene Porter that Josh McDermitt has brilliantly brought to our screens. Josh is also a talented comedian and voice actor, leading him to appear in some fantastic shows. And an upcoming movie!

In 2011 McDermitt played Brandon in a Comedy sitcom style series entitled Retired at 35. The series follows a young executive (David) who decides to retire at 35 to live in his parents’ retirement village. This show ran for two series concluding in 2012; available to stream on Paramount Plus.

Alongside a range of cool cameos in some iconic shows such as Twin Peaks, Mad Men, and Creepshow. McDermitt has lent his hand to voice acting, which links back to his roots of impressions on the radio as a young adult. Kid’s fun and wacky animated series Sharkdog has just released its third season on Netflix, featuring his voice acting talents brought to Doctor of Oceanology, Steven Fisher!

It’s not just television that he is limited to, with a back catalog of movies to his name as he starred in Comedy Drama Life in Color and Comedy Crime Middle Man. McDermitt also has a producer’s credit on Life in Color. In more recent years, role-playing alongside Mel Gibson in Last Looks saw McDermitt play a timid and stressed Film Director.

And coming up for Josh is a more serious role as Dan McGinty in Political Drama Lilly. The exact release is yet to be confirmed but could be out later this year. It will be fantastic to see more of his acting talents and take on a character unlike any he has played before.

Thank you for bringing all of these fantastic characters to life! We cannot wait to see what is next in store. Happy belated Birthday!
