Fear the Walking Dead’s Victor Strand(Colman Domingo) has always been a con man who put his needs above anyone else’s. Throughout his time on the series, Strand has proven that no matter how often viewers think he may redeem himself, he reverts to the ways he knows best. In the series’ eighth and final season, Strand will see a “drastic transformation.”
During the WonderCon 2023 panel attended by Kim Dickens, Jenna Elfman, Karen David, co-showrunner Ian Goldberg, and Executive Producer Michael Satrazemis, fans received a lot of new information for the upcoming season. In addition to the action-packed trailer, there was a video appearance from Domingo sharing his excitement for fans to discover what Strand’s been up to. There was also discussion about Victor Strand and what fans can expect from this character in the last season.
Showrunner Ian Goldberg stated, “Strand went down a very dark path in season 7 with who he became in that tower, and he’s dug a deep hole for himself.” The big question in season 8 will be whether he can redeem himself for his actions.
Fear the Walking Dead – Victor Strand
When things picked up in season 8, there was a seven-year time jump since Morgan (Lennie James) and Madison (Kim Dickens) left for PADRE to rescue Mo. Since viewers last saw them, much has changed with the survivors, including Strand.
Goldberg would go on to say that Strand “may have the most drastic reinvention of any character on the show when we meet him (in season 8), so expect a big change.”
Strand wasn’t featured in season 8, part 2 but will be in the upcoming part 2, which premieres on AMC and AMC+ on Oct. 22, 2023. The last six episodes will conclude the Fear the Walking Dead story and see the long waited reunion between Victor and his old friend Madison.
Earlier this year, Domingo reached out to Undead Walking and was kind enough to give us an exclusive look at his audition video for Victor Strand. Check it out at the link below.
Fear the Walking Dead will return to AMC and AMC+ with new episodes in October.
