Will The Walking Dead: Dead City have season 2?
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead’s first direct spinoff, The Walking Dead: Dead City, will reportedly get a second season. Newcomer to The Walking Dead universe, Mahina Napoleon, who plays a character named Ginny in the new series, revealed this information in an interview with Midweek.
Although not confirmed by AMC, Napoleon stated she would return to New York later in 2023 to begin filming for season 2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City. The series premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in June and debuted on AMC on June 18.
July 2023 UPDATE:
- The SAG-AFTRA & WGA strikes could affect a second season of this series.
- AMC announced season 2 of Dead City at SDCC 2023.
The first season focuses on the rescue of Maggie’s (Lauren Cohan) son Hershel (Logan Kim), who has been abducted by The Croat (Željko Ivanek). She tracks him to Manhattan and needs Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to assist her in the rescue.
This season also finds Negan a wanted man, as Marshal Perlie Armstrong (Gaius Charles), charged with keeping the peace in New Babylon, is actively searching for him.
The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2
The Walking Dead: Dead City’s first season will consist of six episodes that begin airing on June 18, with the season finale on July 23. It will be interesting to see if the second season of Dead City will contain more than six episodes, as did The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead; each had six in the first season and 13 and 15, respectively, for the second.
While no official word of a second season has been announced by AMC, fans are hopeful to hear something regarding another season at SDCC 2023.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, that will release on AMC and AMC+ on September 10, also appears to have gotten a second season as many cast members have posted on social media about filming for a second after season one had wrapped.
Neither of these announcements has been confirmed by AMC Networks.
