AMC will conclude Fear the Walking Dead’s storyline in the fall of 2023. The eighth season was announced as the last, and part 1 of the 12-episode season ended in June. The first part of this season experienced a seven-year time jump and saw the final episodes of Morgan Jones (Lennie James). Part 2 is forthcoming and will feature many other characters not seen in part 1 and the return of another assumed dead character.

The first part of this season focused on ending Morgan’s story and PADRE, the once mysterious location, which turned out to be much easier to take down than initially thought. These episodes also saw this organization fall, and Madison (Kim Dickens) vowed to help the children she abducted for PADRE locate their parents.

Fear the Walking Dead season part 2 release date

Fear the Walking Dead will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Oct. 22, 2023. The midseason premiere episode will air one week after the season finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

AMC Networks has announced that AMC+ will air new episodes of Fear TWD and the Daryl Dixon series on the same day as AMC but begin earlier at 3 a.m. ET.

Cast of Fear the Walking Dead

Below are confirmed characters who will return for the back half of season 8. More could make appearances, but these characters are confirmed from the footage shared so far.

  • Kim Dickens – Madison Clark
  • Colman Domingo – Victor Strand
  • Danay Garcia – Luciana
  • Rubén Blades – Daniel Salazar
  • Austin Amelio – Dwight
  • Christine Evangelista – Sherry
  • Jenna Elfman – June Dorie

Another possible character returning from part 1 is Dove (Jayla Walton), a PADRE resident. In one scene, June is holding on to someone who appears to be this character.

Hopefully, we learn about Charlie’s (Alexa Nisenson) fate who was last seen in season 7 and was gravely ill from radiation poisoning. And there has been no mention of Rabbi Jacob (Peter Jacobson), Sarah (Mo Collins), and her brother Wendell (Daryl Mitchell).

Because in Fear TWD, “No one’s gone until they’re gone,” another character will make his return from the dead, Troy Otto (Daniel Sharman). It will be interesting to learn how he survived the hammer blows to the head by Madison, but Troy will appear in the final episodes of this season.

AMC has released the scene featuring Troy’s return. It feels a bit spoilery, but you can view it here if you are curious

This has been speculated for quite some time as Sharman was seen on set and believed to be the mystery person in the final scene of the midseason 8 finale. At SDCC 2023, it was confirmed. See the video below.

Season 8, part 2 of Fear the Walking Dead premieres on AMC on Oct. 22, 2023, at 9 p.m. ET.

AMC networks has announced a change to the early access schedule and new episodes will premiere on AMC+ the same day as AMC. Access on AMC+ will begin at 3 a.m. ET.
