In October 2023, AMC networks will roll out the final installment of episodes of the first spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead. The first part of the eighth and final season aired earlier this year, with the last six episodes in October to conclude this chapter of The Walking Dead Universe. The back half of this season will focus on Madison (Kim Dickens) and see Troy’s (Daniel Sharman) return.

AMC and AMC+ will air Fear the Walking Dead’s final midseason premiere on Sunday, October 22. The six-episode segment of this series will conclude the series, and director Michael  E. Satrazemis was interviewed by Games Radar for the upcoming issue of SFX magazine and shared some insight into the upcoming episodes.

The first part of the final season saw a significant focus on PADRE and Morgan Jones (Lennie James), whose last episode in TWDU was the midseason finale of Fear TWD’s final season. This was like the passing of the baton back to Madison, where she will serve as the main character in the last episodes.

In the final six episodes, Madison tries to rebuild PADRE into what it should have been while also trying to make right the wrongs of separating many children from their families, and she tries to reunite them. Satrazemis also reminds viewers that Madison has had no time to mourn the deaths of her own children, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Nick (Frank Dillane).

"“There’s also the fact that Madison hasn’t really had enough time to process the death of her children. She’s just learned that they were dead, so some of her biggest struggles will be within.”"

Did he just confirm Alicia’s death? Read about it here.

Troy’s return can only mean he is seeking revenge on Madison for bludgeoning him in the head and leaving him for dead.

"“He’s got a plan,” Satrazemis teases of Troy’s vengeful return. “He’s another [great idea] of Ian and Andrew, that instead of trying to bring in a new character, they bring in somebody with so much history right at the point we go back into the OG characters.”"

Don’t miss the entire interview with Michael E. Satrazemis in the October 4 edition of SFX Magazine.

Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC and AMC+ on October 22.
