Night of the Living Dead, George A. Romero's classic zombie movie that inspired Robert Kirkman to create The Walking Dead, is officially leaving Netflix. That doesn't mean there aren't more great zombie movies to watch on Netflix, though.
It's already going to be a good month for zombie content on Netflix. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 hits Netflix on July 19. If you need something to watch in the meantime, we have four perfect zombie movies to watch right now.
Let's get the list started with my favorite zombie movie on Netflix right now and one of my all-time favorites, 28 Years Later.

28 Years Later
28 Years Later is the third film of Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later franchise. You'll never believe this, but it's set 28 years after the initial outbreak of the virus that destroyed England.
The film tells the story of Spike (Alfie Williams), a 12-year-old boy who goes on a mission to the mainland from their small island community to look for supplies with his father, Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). There, Spike learns of a former doctor who can help Spike's sick mother, Isla (Jodie Comer).
The film premiered in the summer of 2025 and was a decent box office hit. The film also paved the way for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, a sequel, which was released in early 2026 and is currently on Netlfix. Let's chat about it.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple continues Spike's story after 28 Years Later. We also see Dr. Ian Kelson, played by Ralph Fiennes, take more steps to try to find a cure to the Rage virus that has completely destroyed the country.
Directed by Nia DaCosta, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is so much better than audiences have been led to believe. It's easily the most underrated zombie movie on Netflix right now. It's probably the most underrated zombie movie of all time, honestly, after its weak box office performance and performance on Netflix so far.
If you haven't seen The Bone Temple yet, you're in for quite the treat. It's such an awesome movie. And good news: The Bone Temple isn't the last of the 28 Years Later movies. A third movie is already in the works.

Army of the Dead
Zack Snyder's Netflix movies haven't been received all that well, but one of the good ones was Army of the Dead. It's a perfect zombie movie by any stretch, but it's still wildly entertaining with epic action sequences and heist elements that viewers will love.
Army of the Dead tells the story of a group of mercenaries and thieves who are recruited to go on a quest into zombie-infested Las Vegas to clear out a casino safe before the United States military destroys the city completely.
The film has an incredible cast, including Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, Raúl Castillo, Huma Qureshi, and Garret Dillahunt. Castillo has just been cast in Dead City season 3, which premieres on AMC on July 26.
Netflix had big plans for Army of the Dead and turning it into a massive franchise. We did get a prequel, Army of Thieves, which is an even better heist movie that doesn't have any zombies. Unfortunately, it's been reported that Netflix's plans for the Army of the Dead expansion have been called off.

Zombieland
I know I said 28 Years Later is my favorite of the zombie movies on Netflix, and it is, but Zombieland is a close second. It's such a fun movie.
Zombieland tells the story of a group of four survivors just trying to survive the apocalypse and travel the US in search of a safe place to call home. The movie is probably the only road trip zombie movie ever. And, it's incredible.
Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin star in the film series. In addition to Zombieland, the sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap, is also available to stream on Netflix right now. It's the perfect time for a double Zombieland feature!
The Dead Don't Die
The Dead Don't Die is in a similar vein as Zombieland. It's more of a comedy than any of The Walking Dead shows, but it's still perfect for fans of the genre. Just because you like dark, serious zombie shows doesn't mean you can't add a little light in your life, you know?
The Dead Don't Die is a 2019 film from writer and director Jim Jarmusch. The film has an absolutely epic cast with Adam Driver, Bill Murray, Steve Buscemi, Tilda Swinton, Rosie Perez, Danny Glover, Carol Cane, Austin Butler, Chloë Sevigny, Caleb Landry Jones, Sara Driver, RZA, Selena Gomez, Tom Waits, and more. Honestly, this might be the best cast of a zombie project ever. You have some of the biggest actors and actresses in the world in this movie.
The Dead Don't Die tells the story of a few police officers and small-town residents who try to survive the zombie apocalypse. This movie is wild and whacky!
When it comes to picking the right zombie movie, it's all about preference. If you're in the mood for a more serious movie, you should definitely watch 28 Years Later and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, but make sure you watch them in the right order.
If you're in the mood for something a little less serious but still high-octane zombie action, Army of the Dead is the pick. And, if you want a comedy, Zombieland or The Dead Don't Die.
Or you can just watch all five of them in whatever order you choose!
