The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4

As of right now, there are currently only two ongoing Walking Dead spinoffs. One of them is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. This zombie series has been on air since 2023, and is headed into its fourth and final season. The spinoff starts off with fan-favorite Walking Dead character Daryl finding himself stranded in France, far from the familiar terrain of the original series.

As he navigates this new, unfamiliar world overrun by walkers, Daryl encounters both allies and enemies and faces unexpected challenges. In season 2, he finally reunites with Carol and the two work together to find their way back home to America. However, they still wind up far away from their destination. Their journey then lands them in Spain in the third season, and just when it looks like they might finally have a chance to return safely, their escape plan is sabotaged when their boat is set on fire in the season 3 finale.

Although there aren't any plot details for Daryl Dixon season 4 just yet, we'll likely see Daryl and Carol continue their perilous journey through Spain while still trying to find a way back to America. Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride are confirmed to return in their respective roles in the fourth season.

Production just recently wrapped up in late November 2025, but unfortunately, an official premiere date has not been set. However, Daryl Dixon season 4 has already been confirmed for release sometime next year. Perhaps the fourth season will be given a September premiere date like previous seasons. But we won't know for sure until AMC makes that big announcement.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3

The Walking Dead: Dead City is the only other ongoing Walking Dead spinoff at the moment. But unlike Daryl Dixon, there's a chance that it could be renewed again. AMC hasn't announced a premiere date for the upcoming third season yet, but it's expected to come out next year. If not in 2026, sometime in 2027. It shouldn't be any later than 2027, though.

Series star Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently shared on his X page that filming for the third season will continue through January 2026, so we could possibly be looking at a mid-to-late 2026 premiere for season 3. Hopefully, we'll get to see Dead City season 3 premiere sometime in May or June of 2026. Those are the months that the previous seasons premiered, but things could change this time around. We'll have to get back to you with the official premiere date once it's announced.

Dead City season 2 ended with Maggie sparing Negan and deciding to move forward together. In Dead City season 3, we'll see the unlikely duo come together to build the first successful community in Manhattan since the apocalypse. But as chaos unfolds across the city, they find themselves having to reflect on their past mistakes, conflicts, and personal traumas. Morgan returns as Negan, while Lauren Cohan reprises her role as Maggie.

Rumored Walking Dead crossover spinoff

AMC can keep putting out Walking Dead spinoffs, but the one that fans have been patiently waiting for is the one that will finally reunite the surviving characters. And you know what? We might just be getting closer to that dream than ever before.

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, a crossover show bringing together the various Walking Dead spinoffs is reportedly in the works at AMC. If this rumor turns out to be true, then that means we could potentially be seeing Rick and Michonne (The Ones Who Live), Daryl and Carol (Daryl Dixon), and Negan and Maggie (Dead City) all back together again.

The Walking Dead CCO Scott M. Gimple previously shared in a 2024 interview with TVLine that he has “dreams" of merging all the spinoffs together in a massive crossover event. He even shared how he has been planting subtle “breadcrumbs” across the franchise to set the stage, though he emphasized that the exact timing and execution are still uncertain.

"So when it comes to something like [an 'Avengers: Endgame'-style, all-series crossover event], yeah, I do have dreams of merging this all together, and I have laid little breadcrumbs toward that, but you never know exactly when and how [it will come together], because of a variety of reasons... I will just say that I’m building those pathways, but there could be all sorts of pivots along the way that change it."

What's also worth mentioning is what Andrew Lincoln shared in an interview back in September 2025. When asked about the possibility of reprising his role as Rick Grimes in the franchise, he said, “Yeah, well, there’s a conversation happening right now.” Could this discussion about his return be related to the rumored crossover spinoff? It's possible, but nothing has been officially confirmed by AMC or Gimple.

If this crossover does in fact happen, we most likely won't see it next year. It would likely premiere later, as it still seems to be in the early stages of development. However, we're hoping more details will start to emerge now that this crossover spinoff rumor is picking up steam.
