Netflix just shared the list of shows and movies leaving in August 2026, and we have some good news to share with fans of Fear the Walking Dead.

Despite reports from earlier this year claiming Fear the Walking Dead would be leaving Netflix on Aug. 19, 2026, that does not appear to be the case. It looks like Fear the Walking Dead will be on Netflix for at least a little while longer, as Fear the Walking Dead was not on the list of shows and movies leaving Netflix next month.

For now, all eight seasons of Fear the Walking Dead should be available to stream on Netflix until we hear otherwise from Netflix.

Fear the Walking Dead isn't the only Walking Dead series on Netflix. You can watch all 11 seasons of The Walking Dead, two seasons of The Walking Dead: Dead City, and three seasons of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on Netflix right now. Daryl Dixon season 3 was just added to Netflix on Sunday, July 19.

Why did fans think Fear the Walking Dead was leaving Netflix?

There were reports that Fear the Walking Dead was leaving Netflix on Aug. 19, 2026, which is exactly two years after Netflix added all eight seasons of The Walking Dead's hit spinoff.

Fear the Walking Dead was added to Netflix on Aug. 19, 2024. At the time, Variety reported it was a one-year licensing deal for Fear the Walking Dead and a bunch of other AMC shows. There were fears that the series would leave Netflix on Aug. 19, 2025, but Netflix renewed the deal for another year. It looks like Netflix has renewed the deal for another year, or at least some extended period of time.

Because Netflix doesn't make these licensing deals public very often, it's hard to track just how long some of these shows and movies are going to be available on Netflix. Sometimes, direct deals are made for individual shows. Other times, there's a group of shows or movies included in these deals. It just depends on how they are grouped and negotiated.

There is a chance Fear the Walking Dead could leave Netflix soon

Although Fear the Walking Dead is going to remain on Netflix for the time being, there is still a chance that fans could be saying goodbye to the series, along with other Walking Dead shows, in the near future.

Earlier this year, we learned AMC was negotiating and taking bids for the rights to stream The Walking Dead. There's been a lot of speculation that AMC could bundle The Walking Dead shows to a streamer for a higher price, but it's unclear if that's actually happening.

It's also still unclear where things stand with the streaming rights to The Walking Dead. The series has been available to stream on Netflix since 2011, the year after it premiered on AMC. Losing The Walking Dead, and the other shows set in this universe, would be a blow to Netflix, but it could also backfire for AMC.

Netflix is still the biggest streaming service in the world, and one of these things that I think keeps The Walking Dead relevant is that the original series is still accessible to fans in the United States very easily.

We'll continue to share updates on the future of The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, and the other shows set in this world as we find out. Stay tuned for more information, and don't forget to watch Dead City season 3 starting on Sunday, July 26, on AMC and AMC+.
