AMC has done an exceptional job of carrying on the legacy of The Walking Dead series. The TV universe consists of the main series, six spinoffs, and more to come. The Walking Dead: Dead City is the first direct spinoff of the main series that serves as a sequel to the original story. How many seasons does Dead City have?
Dead City stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in a reprisal of their roles as Maggie and Negan. In season 1, they are joined by a talented cast including Logan Kim, Zeljko Ivanek, Gaius Charles, Mahina Napoleon, Pallavi Sastry, Lisa Emery, and more.
The series continues Maggie and Negan's stories and their journey to Manhattan to rescue her son Hershel (Logan Kim) who was abducted by a former Savior.

The first season received rave reviews and is a top performer on AMC+. According to AMC's recent press release the series, at the time of the release of the first episode ranked as AMC+’s #1 season premiere of all time.
Dead City season 2
AMC has renewed Dead City for an eight-part second season that will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on May 4, 2025. The opening minutes of season 2 of Dead City was shared at the 2025 IGN Fan Fest, you can watch it below.
The second season will see the return of the above-named actors and include the addition of Kim Coates, Dascha Polanco, Jake Weary, Keir Gilchrist, and Pooya Mohseni.
After teaming up in season 1, the second season will find Maggie and Negan on opposite sides once again. "As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined."
The Walking Dead: Dead City season 1 will begin streaming on Netflix on March 17 as part of a deal between AMC and the streamer.
