List of dystopian movies and shows to watch after you finish The Walking Dead and its spinoffs

The Walking Dead and its spinoffs make for great TV watching; now that you're up to date, what else should you watch?

AMC has done an excellent job in the creation of The Walking Dead TV universe. Fans who loved the main series have also found interesting stories in the spinoffs. Dead City and Daryl Dixon will debut new seasons in 2025, but until then what can you watch?

It seems that dystopian storylines are always a hit as they focus on various ways the world as we know it could come to an end. Some use these stories as ways to gather survival ideas in the event of a catastrophe and other watch purely for enteraintment purposes. Below is a list of great end of the world series but while none of these feature the undead, Walking Dead fans are sure to enjoy them.

Silo

The Apple TV+ sci-fi dystopian series Silo features a community located in a silo that runs 144 stories underground. At least 10,000 people live there and abide by rules they are lead to believe have been set in place to keep them safe.

The story is based on Hugh Howey's trilogy of Silo novels, Wool, Shift, and Dust. The series was created by Justified's Graham Yost and has received positive critical reviews for Rebecca Ferguson's performance, world-building, and production design.

Watch seasons 1 and 2 of Silo on AppleTV+. The series has been renewed for third and fourth seasons.

The 100

Another excellent dystopian sci-fi series is The CW's The 100, which aired for 7 seasons and is inspired by Kass Morgan's YA novel series. The story is set 97 years after human life on Earth has been eliminated by a nuclear apocalypse. The survivors reside in a space habitat known as the Ark. A group of juvenile delinquents are sent to Earth, where they discover survivors of the nuclear event.

The series stars Fear the Walking Dead actress Alycia Debnam-Carey, who portrayed Alicia Clark.

The Hunger Games series of movies

Based on the adventure novels written by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games series of films is an excellent depiction of a dystopian world. The main story focuses on the Hunger Games organized by the capital of Panem, which pits two children from the 12 districts against one another in a fighting match to the death.

The film's main cast Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy, Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, and Donald Sutherland as President Snow.

The Running Man

Lastly, we are going old school with 1987's The Running Man starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The movie is being remade with Fear the Walking Dead's Colman Domingo as the game host. The film is inspired by Stephen King's novel, published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. The story, set in a dystopian world in 2025, features a brutal reality game show called The Running Man, which gives contestants a chance to win money while avoiding murderous hunters.

The movies stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, María Conchita Alonso, Richard Dawson, Yaphet Kotto, and Jesse Ventura.
