Actor Norman Reedus is well known for many of his roles, most especially that of Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead universe. While he has many new projects in the works, one that his fans are most excited for is the long-awaited third installment of The Boondock Saints movie franchise.
Recently, Reedus and his co-stars were busy promoting the latest film in the John Wick universe, Ballerina. The movie, which has received critical praise, premiered in theaters on June 6 and stars Reedus, Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves, and more.
During interviews with Letterboxd (below) at the film's premiere, Reedus, de Armas, Reeves, and stuntman Chad Stahelski tried to guess the movie they star in that is top-favorited on the platform. Reedus was quick to correctly guess Boondock Saints, stating that fans of the films will run across the street to tackle him. He then added that the script for the third movie is done and being "fine-tuned." This is outstanding news for fans.
The Boondock Saints
The original Boondock Saints was released in 1999 and was followed by All Saints Day in 2009. For years, rumors have circulated about a third Boondock Saints movie, and in 2024, it was officially confirmed.
Reedus and his on-screen brother Sean Patrick Flanery will reprise their roles as the vigilante MacManus brothers, Murphy and Connor. The Irish Catholic brothers believe that they were ordained by God to rid Boston, their hometown, of criminals, which sends them on a killing spree throughout the city.
Both the original and the sequel suffered at the box office, but viewers knew the movies were instant classics. These films are now cult classics with a massive following of fans who flock to conventions anytime Reedus and Flannery are featured guests to obtain the cherished MacManus Brothers photo op.
In 2024, Deadline reported that the third movie is backed by Thunder Roads Films (John Wick) and joins Impossible Dream Entertainment and rights holder Dragonfly Films. Described as an expansion of the franchise, the new film could feature more notable names in the cast.
In the fall of 2025, Reedus will return for the third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on AMC. He recently appeared in The Bikeriders and has been cast in Pendulum and The Housewife.
In 2023, Flanery portrayed convicted death row inmate Edward Wayne Brady in Nefarious, an indie Christian thriller. He also teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, of which he is a 4th-degree black belt.
