Haunting in Connecticut celebrates 15 years and stars Walking Dead actor Kyle Gallner
By Renee Hansen
The Haunting in Connecticut supernatural horror movie turns 15 this year. The film stars Virginia Madsen, Martin Donovan, and Kyle Gallner, who appeared in one episode of The Walking Dead. He portrayed Zach in "30 Days Without an Accident," the one who tries to guess Daryl Dixon's (Norman Reedus) occupation before the outbreak and sadly dies before the end of the episode.
Gallner portrayed Matt in The Haunting in Connecticut, with Madsen and Donovan as his parents. The film was directed by Peter Cornwell, who also directed Mercy, which stars TWD actor Chandler Riggs. The Haunting in Connecticut is reportedly based on the true events of the Snedeker family, but the family claims the movie doesn't come close to the actuality of the horrors they experienced. Regardless of whether or not it was based on facts, it is a good horror film. Check out what Roger Ebert had to say about this movie.
The story follows Matt (Gallner) and his family, who move into a home that is closer to where he receives treatment for his cancer. They discover the house was a former mortuary where the morticians practiced necromancy (the supposed practice of communicating with the dead, especially in order to predict the future). The family is then haunted by violent supernatural forces trapped within the home. Additional cast includes Elias Koteas, Amanda Crew, Ty Wood, Sophi Knight, D.W. Brown, and Erik Berg.
