Highland Film Group has revealed a new project, The Postcard Killer, which is a sequel to the 2020 film The Postcard Killings, which can be viewed on Netflix. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Famke Janssen will reprise their roles in the sequel.

The original film, based on the novel by James Patterson and Liza Marklund, featured Jacob Kanon (Morgan), a New York Police Detective, who investigates his daughter's death after she is murdered on her honeymoon.

The Postcard Killer, directed by Renny Harlin (The Strangers, Die Hard 2), will follow Kanon, still haunted by his daughter's death. He becomes involved in the hunt for his ex-wife Valarie, portrayed by Janssen, who has been abducted by a new Postcard Killer with only cryptic postcards as clues. Simon Haysmith (Denis O'Hare), Kanon's nemesis, is brought in to assist in locating the killer before Valarie becomes his next victim. Naomi Battrick has also been announced for the film.

Production is reported to begin in the fall in locations across London, Madrid, Florence, and Latvia.

Screen Daily originally reported the news with this quote from director Renny Harlin.

"Every page of this screenplay is channelling Hitchcock and Brian de Palma. This is the genre I’ve loved since childhood. Our sexy European locations will provide a backdrop for a visual feast."
