AMC has truly outdone itself with the creation of three direct spinoffs of The Walking Dead, the long-running apocalyptic series. Dead City, Daryl Dixon, and The Ones Who Live significantly expanded the universe by allowing the stories in the series to travel far beyond the boundaries of the main series. Each new show continues to generate new chapters in the lives of several characters first introduced in The Walking Dead. This fall, season 2 of Daryl Dixon will premiere on AMC, and the series has been renewed for a third. How many episodes will each season consist of?

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premiere on AMC and AMC+ in September 2023. Norman Reedus reprised his role as Daryl Dixon, a role he has played since 2010, in an overseas adventure to France. Traveling to France was the furthest thing from Daryl's mind but after becoming involved with some unsavory characters he was forced onto the ship which found him washing up on the shores of France.

The first season of Daryl Dixon, as with all TWD series, began with six episodes. While it may seem difficult to tell an in-depth story in only six episodes, the creators of the series did a fantastic job fleshing out Daryl's story and those of the new people he encountered.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 is subtitled The Book of Carol to allow for the reintroduction of Carol Peletier to the storyline. Melissa McBride returns as Carol, a role she began playing in season 1 of the flagship series. This season will begin following Carol in her search for her best friend Daryl, that commences in Maine, his last known location. The story will also continue to follow Daryl in France as he struggles with decisions he needs to make.

The second season of Daryl Dixon will premiere on September 29 on AMC and AMC+, just over a year after the first season. It will also be told in six episodes.

Showrunner David Zabel confirmed in an interview with Collider that the third season, recently confirmed at the 2024 SDCC panel, will also consist of six parts. The third installment will be filmed and set in Spain, adding a whole new dynamic to the already engaging series. This story will make way for a fourth season, which Reedus shared, perhaps prematurely, in an interview with Radio Times ahead of SDCC.
