The Walking Dead universe was well represented at the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). The Walking Dead spinoffs, Daryl Dixon and Dead City hosted panels that revealed much more about the highly anticipated second seasons for each series. Several other TWDU actors were present in panels for upcoming projects, including Tyler James Williams (TWD) for Abbott Elementary and Danny Ramirez (Tales of TWD) for Captain America: Brave New World. One significant piece of information announced for Dead City is the addition of several new cast members.

The Walking Dead: Dead City premiered on AMC and AMC+ in 2023 and is the first direct spinoff of the main series. This show greatly expanded the universe featuring a story set in post-apocalyptic Manhattan with a focus on the continued stories of Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) and Negan Smith (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Dead City is quite the departure from the wooded setting of The Walking Dead, which is a refreshing change expected in a spinoff. The first season follows Maggie as she secretly negotiates the trade of her son Hershel (Logan Kim), who had been abducted, for Negan. This was orchestrated by
The Croat (Željko Ivanek), a former Savior who requires Negan's special skills to aid the Dama (Lisa Emery). She is the ruthless woman in charge of things in Manhattan who desires to reign supreme over the other gangs on the island.

At the recent SDCC panel for Dead City, which included Cohan, Morgan, Ivanek, and Gaius Charles, who portrays Marshal Pearlie Armstrong, and showrunner Eli Jorné, new cast members for the upcoming season were announced.

Dascha Polanco will portray Major Lucia Narvaez. She is known for her roles as Dayanara Diaz in Orange is the New Black and Cuca in In the Heights.

Jake Weary joins the cast as Christos. His other roles include It Follows, How to Blow Up a Pipeline, and the crime drama Animal Kingdom.

Keir Gilchrist plays Benjamin Pierce. He is known for It's Kind of a Funny Story, It Follows, and the Netflix comedy Atypical.

Pooya Mohseni will play a character named Roksana. She has been featured in many series, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Big Dogs, Madam Secretary, Falling Water, and more.

Prior to these announcements, Kim Coates, of Sons of Anarchy fame, was announced as joining the cast. He will portray Bruegel, the leader of the toughest gang in Manhattan.

Returning cast for season two includes Cohan, Morgan, Ivanek, Kim, Emery, and Charles along with Mahina Napoleon as Ginny, Jasmin Walker as The Prefect, and Pallavi Sastry as Nina.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2025.
