In an interview with ComicBook, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live actress Lesley-Ann Brandt discusses the fourth episode of the series, “What We," that premieres on March 10. This episode was written by Michone actress Danai Gurira, who also serves as an executive producer on the series with showrunner Scott M. Gimple, Andrew Lincoln, Denise Huth, Brian Bockrath, and Greg Nicotero.

Brandt, new to The Walking Dead universe, portrays Pearl Thorne, a woman who works alongside Rick in the culling facilities of the Civic Republic Military (CRM). She appears to be a friend and perhaps an ally to Rick.

The Ones Who Live, at its heart, is the continuing love story of Rick and Michonne, who have long been apart. Rick has been a captive of the CRM, while Michonne never gave up her search for Rick once she discovered he survived the bridge explosion in season 9 of the main series.

Brand told ComicBook that the episode Guria wrote is "pretty incredible."

" "I think it's just for the purists. It's for the hardcore 'Richonners.' That episode is for them.""

This series has been highly anticipated as viewers have longed to see Rick and Michonne return to the universe and further their story. The teasers and trailers for the series showcase the urgency both of these characters experience while trying to reunite with one another.

Gurira also shared with ComicBook some of what went into writing the “What We," episode, of which she also oversaw post-production.

""It's such a familiar story, but I was explaining a very different chapter of it to people, in a way that we hadn't explored these narratives as a whole for the series. And this episode was definitely part of that. It was great, it was very collaborative. It was also very solitary, and very little sleep.""

The Ones Who Live premieres on AMC on Sunday, February 25 at 9 p.m. ET with an early release on AMC+. New episodes of the six-part spinoff will air weekly on Sundays.
