The Walking Dead series aired on AMC for 12 years and during that time cast members have come and gone. Who was the cast for the first season?

AMC premiered the first season of The Walking Dead on Halloween night, 2010. The series would go on to influence pop culture and TV trends especially within the apocalypse settings. The first season is viewed as one of the best and introduces several characters from the comic created by Robert Kirkman while also introducing many created specifically for the series.
Fans will never forget the iconic opening scene of the first episode, "Days Gone Bye." Andrew Lincoln was featured as Rick Grimes for the first time, dressed in his deputy sheriff uniform, carrying an empty gas can as he searches for fuel at an abondoned station. He is met with a sight no one could have expected: a little girl in pajamas who would turn out to be a walker.
The Walking Dead - season 1
The first season saw Rick reunite with his family, and the Atlanta group began their journey elsewhere as Atlanta had become overrun. This season adapted issues 1-6 of the comic series and is the only season in which Frank Darabont served as showrunner. Season 1 is the shortest season of the series, with only six episodes, so it didn't feature a midseason break.
Looking at the list of names below, it is crazy to see how many of these characters died this season, although no major characters were killed in season 1.
The bolded names are the only four characters who survived the series. Rick left the series in season 9 but will return in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Morgan crossed over to Fear the Walking Dead in that series' fourth season and survived that series ending also. Daryl and Carol survive and star in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon series.
