While we may all know Steven Yeun from The Walking Dead, he’s been expanding into film for years, and his latest movie has taken the world by storm on Netflix.

According to Tudum, Animals has been No. 1 globally and in the United States since its debut on Netflix on Nov. 9. The movie, starring Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington, has remained in the Top 10 alongside several other big films, including Tyler Perry’s latest film, Doing Life, several Ice Age movies, and a couple of others.

This isn’t the first time Steven Yeun has done well on Netflix, but it is the first time a major new movie of his has soared to the #1 spot—one that was a Netflix original, not a theatrical release.

Animals is about what happens when politics turns dirty

Essentially, the movie Animals follows an attorney trying to become mayor of Los Angeles while running entirely independently and paying for the campaign out of his own pocket. On the night of Halloween, his son is captured by a kidnapper, and to get him back, he has to call in someone to fork up the money somehow, exposing a lot of his family’s dirty history that never should have seen the light of day.

Yeun plays the campaign manager, who suggested the attorney call in this favor. He does a great job explaining that he’s seen some horrible stuff happen in campaigns, and because of that, there’s always a “get out of jail” card, which is how he’s made connections. Not the best ones, but ones that will get results.

It’s an exciting action film that is great for a weekend watch, which explains why it’s number one right now. Of course, its star-studded cast helps, with Yeun as one of the main characters.

I do have to point out that the film isn’t very original, and it's received mixed reviews. You’re not going to be getting any Taken experience here.

However, if you don’t want to check out the film, the platform has plenty of other options to see Steven Yeun in. If you want to watch him as Glenn in The Walking Dead again, there are plenty of hours available. Thankfully the franchise is not leaving Netflix, so Glenn will be on that platform for some time.

You can also check out his other top-tier horror movie, Nope, directed by Jordan Peele and available on Netflix. It’s Yeun’s darkest project yet. That film co-stars Yeun alongside Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya, and he has a great part.

Or, if you want to see Yeun knock it out of the park, check out Beef’s first season, where he won an Emmy for his performance. It even had a second season, but I personally think the first, with Yeun and co-star Ali Wong, is better.

Either way, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Yeun if Animals isn't your speed. If it is, you've just added another film to your watchlist, since it seems the rest of the world has seen it too.

You can stream Animals on Netflix.
