The eight-part HBO series Lanterns slowly continues to add to its cast. The series is based on the Green Lantern characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart, featured in DC Comics. Fear the Walking Dead's Garret Dillahunt was added months ago, and now he will be joined by fellow TWDU actor Chris Coy.

Chris Mundy serves as showrunner of the DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television series, which marks the third in the DC Universe. James Hawes (Slow Horses) directs the first two episodes and additional installments will be directed by Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov.

The series follows two intergalactic cops, Stewart, a new recruit, and Jordan, a Lantern legend, as they investigate a murder in Nebraska. Both are members of the Green Lantern Corps, the intergalactic law enforcement agency, which bestow special rings that grant the Lanterns extraordinary powers to fight off evil.

Lanterns cast

Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre were previously announced for the roles of Hal Jordan and John Stewart, respectively. They are joined by Kelly Macdonald, who portrays Kerry, a sheriff who is deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town. Nathan Fillion will portray the abrasive Green Lantern, Guy Gardner. Dillahunt will play William Macon, a modern cowboy whose charming facade hides his "self-righteous, conspiracy-minded" personality.

Deadline recently announced the addition of Coy to the series. He will guest star as "Waylon Sanders," an intelligent survivor or a nervous truck driver. Additional cast includes Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Sherman Augustus, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jason Ritter.

Lanterns is expected to release on HBO in early 2026.

What else does Chris Coy star in?

In season 5 of The Walking Dead, Coy portrayed Martin, a member of Terminus. He is also well known for his roles as L.P. Everett on HBO's Treme, Calvin Bunker on Cinemax's Banshee, Paul Hendrickson on HBO's The Deuce, and Jasper Baker on Prime Video's The Peripheral.

Coy will appear in the Bad Robot's sci-fi thriller Flowervale Street, that stars Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery. The story follows a family in the 1980s who begin to notice strange occurrences in their neighborhood. The movie is expected to release in August 2026.

The actor will also appear in the Netflix drama Black Rabbit with Jude Law and Jason Bateman, who directed the first two episodes. The drama is expected in 2025 and tells the story of sibling drama between the owner of a New York City hotspot who allows his chaotic brother back in his life, a move which threatens everything he has built.

Recently, Coy appeared in Lawmen: Bass Reeves, The Absence of Eden, Accused, Mayfair Witches, and more.
