Award-winning actor and Walking Dead franchise legend Colman Domingo will return to the third season of HBO's series Euphoria in the spring of 2026, but Domingo has another big project coming even sooner. And, it was just announced on Instagram.
Domingo will voice the Cowardly Lion in Wicked: For Good, the upcoming sequel to the 2024 musical fantasy film Wicked.
The new film adapts the second act of the 2003 stage musical that was based on the novel by Gregory Maguire. The Wicked musical and films are a reimagining of the 1900 novel by L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and the 1939 film adaptation that was a critical success, nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
The announcement features a stuffed lion, when moved, reveals that Domingo will lend his voice talents as the Cowardly Lion to the new film.
In the classic Wizard of Oz film, the Cowardly Lion was portrayed by Bert Lahr, and he was a main character in Dorothy's story. In Wicked, he was a cub rescued by Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey). Wicked: For Good features a full-grown lion who blames Elphaba for his situation. He will also be seen following the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy, The Tin Man, and Scarecrow on their way to see the Wizard, portrayed by Jeff Goldblum.
In addition to Erivo, several other actors will return for the sequel, including Ariana Grande as Glinda Upland. Also returning are Bailey as Prince Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, and Bronwyn James as ShenShen.

Colman Domingo has achieved incredible levels of superstardom in recent years, but he's best known to TWD fans for starring in all eight seasons of Fear The Walking Dead. He played the mysterious and often unreliable Victor Strand, who formed a strong bond with the original lead of the show Madison Clark (played by Kim Dickens) during its early seasons.
Domingo stayed with the series right through to its series finale as his career began to skyrocket. Although the back half of Fear's run wasn't well-received, Strand remained a fan-favorite character, allowing Domingo plenty of opportunities to shine throughout.
The star has a long list of upcoming projects including the second adaptation of Stephen King's The Running Man. The actor will portray the game show host in the film which also stars Glen Powell, William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, and Josh Brolin and is set for a November 14 release.
Domingo recently starred alongside Steve Carell, Will Forte, and Marco Calvani in the Netflix series The Four Seasons (an adaptation of the 1981 movie), which has been renewed for a second season. He also voices Norman Osborn in Marvel Animation series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and is next set to star in the crime film Dead Man's Wire, the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, and Stephen King's untitled upcoming sci-fi film.
Wicked: For Good will be released in theaters by Universal on Nov. 21.
