What's next for The Walking Dead Universe in 2026?

New stories are continuing to be told within The Walking Dead universe, but with The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon coming to an end in 2026, what's next?

Series within The Walking Dead universe have been going strong, continuing to release new content and new stories. Even after the main show ended, there was still more of The Walking Dead story to be told. We've been able to see how other countries have faired in the apocalypse in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

There's been a lot of new stories being told within that show and we've seen new variants of walkers and experiments being conducted. It's been great to get answers about the apocalypse through some of these spinoff shows.

However, now with so many of these shows meeting their end, fans are wondering what's next for The Walking Dead universe in 2026.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is coming to an end with its fourth season in 2026. Fans have been wondering if this will be the last time they will see Daryl and Carol in action. However, according to the article, "Why The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is ending after just four seasons," the creator of the show, David Zabel, explains that the purpose of the last season of the show is to finish the story of Carol and Daryl's journey across Europe.

Norman Reedus also spoke in an interview with Variety, where he said, "This finale isn’t just an ending; it’s a celebration of what we’ve all shared together. Keep carrying that love forward – Daryl’s journey is far from over."

Hearing these statements make me believe this is just an end to a chapter in Daryl and Carol's journey. Hopefully, in 2026 after the final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon ends, a new show will be announced to continue the story of the characters we've grown to love throughout the years. There could potentially be hope of seeing these characters in The Walking Dead: Dead City.

The Walking Dead: Dead City is currently filming its third season and fans are hoping to see it aired sometime during 2026. The show has had no announcement of its end quite yet. It could be possible to see some beloved Walking Dead characters, like Daryl and Carol join the show, but this show seems to have its own purpose and story to tell like that of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

We've seen Maggie and Negan in a new light on this show, seeing them forced to work together despite the history they have together. I'm curious to see where the show will go in season 3 and see the story that will be told.

These are the only shows that are currently airing within The Walking Dead universe at the moment, but back in 2023 AMC announced that More Tales from The Walking Dead episodes were in development. Nothing has been heard about the show since, with fans concluding that the show was likely tossed and cancelled. Since The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is ending soon, there could be a possibility of new information of its development or possibly a new Walking Dead show to carry on telling amazing stories similar to those that have been told throughout the years.
