Wow! It's officially the new year, Walking Dead fans. Seriously, it's hard to believe that another year has passed. 2025 saw the return of The Walking Dead franchise's only two ongoing spinoffs: Daryl Dixon and Dead City. The fourth and final season of Daryl Dixon is confirmed to come out sometime this year, with Dead City season 3 expected to premiere in 2026 as well.

But that's the only two confirmed Walking Dead shows. In late 2025, a rumor spread that a Walking Dead crossover spinoff was reportedly in the works. However, details about this rumored crossover remain scarce. Plus, AMC has not officially confirmed anything. That said, fans will have to just look forward to the new seasons of Daryl Dixon and Dead City this year.

But wait! That's not all. Perhaps you're the type of fan who likes to follow the cast of The Walking Dead from project to project. For you, it doesn't just have to be zombie-filled adventures. Well, we have some good news to share. In just a week, one of The Walking Dead's most beloved stars' new show is set to be released on Netflix!

Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal’s new Netflix show premieres on January 8

His & Hers
(L to R) Jon Bernthal as Detective Jack Harper and Tessa Thompson as Anna in Episode #101 of His & Hers | Netflix

Yes, this is the reason why you should mark Jan. 8 on your calendar as a Walking Dead fan. Jon Bernthal, who won over fans as Shane Walsh on the hit zombie series, is stepping into a completely new role in His & Hers. The entire six-episode series will be released on Netflix on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET.

No, there are no flesh-eating zombies this time. But His & Hers is full of suspense, twists, and edge-of-your-seat drama that will keep you hooked from start to finish. It's a psychological thriller, so be prepared to question everything you see and second-guess every character.

William Oldroyd (Eileen, Lady Macbeth) developed His & Hers. It's a television series adaptation of Alice Feeney’s bestselling 2020 psychological thriller novel of the same name. The plot centers on Anna, a reclusive news anchor who becomes fixated on a murder in her hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia. As she delves further into the investigation, Detective Jack Harper begins to suspect her, sparking a tense cat-and-mouse game.

Bernthal takes on the role of Detective Jack Harper, the determined and suspicious officer whose pursuit of the truth puts him at odds with Anna. Tessa Thompson, who is best known for roles in Thor: Ragnarok and the Creed movies, plays Anna, the news anchor who finds herself drawn back into her hometown’s dark secrets.

You might recognize some of the other actors in the cast as well. Some of those actors include Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Poppy Liu, Chris Bauer, Marin Ireland, Jamie Tisdale, and Isabelle Kusman.

His & Hers is billed as a limited series. In other words, the story is self-contained and will wrap up within its six episodes, delivering a complete, tightly plotted narrative without any ongoing seasons. This might be a bummer for Bernthal fans, but don't worry! The Walking Dead actor has several other projects scheduled for release this year as well. They are the Untitled Punisher television special, The Odyssey, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
