The Walking Dead Re-Watch: Episode 803 "Monsters"

Season 8 was a game changer for The Walking Dead. Let’s take a walk down memory lane with a look back at episode 803, “Monsters.”

Rick’s reunion with Morales takes a surprising turn while the rest of the group continues the assault on the Saviors. However, disagreement over the direction of the battle starts to come to the fore, leading to tension amid allies.

Tara and Jesus have a major disagreement about the Saviors in “Monsters.” Tara has no problem killing them while Jesus thinks they can be saved. Morgan agrees with Tara, and this leads to a fight between Morgan and Jesus that almost has disastrous consequences.

“Monsters” is an important episode because it sets up Maggie as the leader of the Hilltop. We already knew she had the support of the community, but when Gregory arrives at the gates she has to make a difficult decision that could impact whether he lives or dies. She also has to deal with the arrival of the Savior POWs, and though no one wants them to stay within the gates, she knows she has to find a way to make it work for everyone.
