Fans of The Walking Dead have a lot to anticipate in the coming weeks and months with all TWDU has to offer. Comic-Con@Home 2021 gave us lots of details and lots to get excited about with the universe’s future. But there is still a lot to learn.

We know that Season 11 of The Walking Dead will be split into 3 parts, each consisting of 8 episodes. We also got details about Fear The Walking Dead’s return which will see Season 7 commencing October 17. And World Beyond will be back for its second and last season on October 3.

Fans are excited about the Rick Grimes movies and the two new spin-off series; there is much to look forward to. One spin-off will be about two of The Walking Dead’s fan favorites, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride).  But what exactly will this series be about?

There is very little that has been announced about the spin-off series. But Reedus and McBride have expressed their excitement at the prospects of this series. We know the show layout could be the duo traveling around other US states and seeing exactly what else is out there.

But will this be one giant road trip that will only be a one-season limited series? It is possible as leaving means walking away from their family and friends. It is also possible to say they may encounter characters from other shows within the universe. We have seen it happen before with the crossovers in Fear TWD.

We also wonder just when this series will be set. When The Walking Dead concludes, it could end on a time jump. The spin-off series could be set within that time jump where we would see what they had been doing before they return home. However, it may be that they leave their old lives behind, set sail and together settle down in Hawaii – paradise!

There could be multiple reasons why they choose to go away together. We can speculate that they want to see the world whilst they still can (even if it is slightly dysfunctional), recruit and find new people to bring home, maybe the world gets rebuilt, and they finally have an inner belief that things can be as normal again. They have discussed seeing other places before in their little talks together, and Carol is no stranger to venturing off.

Each episode will likely reflect the ‘bottle’ (standalone) format in this series.  They could bring a few existing fan favorites along with them for the ride, or they may pop in now and again. I think it would be very cool to see the pair encounter someone such as Fear’s Madison Clark (Kim Dickins) if the timelines synced; I am not sure that is likely, but how incredible would those scenes be!

What this spin-off has to hold so far is a mystery, but it is sure to be awesome! Let’s hope we see more exchanging of friendship bands, Dog being Dog, along with heart-warming and badass moments coming from it. We may find out more very soon.
