Tales of the Walking Dead could be the series that keeps the fandom going strong. This series will be the third spinoff of The Walking Dead series that will air its final episode sometime in 2022.

The focus of the fandom has been on the end of the main series, the movies, and the Daryl and Carol-centric spinoff and fans had given little notice to Tales of the Walking Dead. But, this series has the potential to keep the fandom strong by bringing back fan-favorite characters and introducing new characters that bring new actors into TWD Family.

This comment is not to belittle anything Fear the Walking Dead is doing as it is a fantastic series, but many  Walking Dead viewers aren’t big fans of this series.

Variety reports that Daniella Pineda has been added to the recently announced cast member list, including Terry Crews, Parker Posey, Poppy Liu, Anthony Edwards, and Jillian Bell.

Pineda recently started in the Netflix original live-action Cowboy Bebop where she played Faye Valentine. She is also starred in Modern Persuasion with fellow Walking Dead actress Alicia Witt available to stream on Hulu. Her other roles include The Detour, Dream Corp LLC and  What/If. She portrayed Sophie Deveraux on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals’ spinoff seriesShe also starred with fellow Walking Dead actor Austin Amelio in the horror film Mercy Black.

The new spinoff series is set to release in the summer of 2022, and the first season will consist of six episodes. Filming for the series recently began in Buford, Georgia, with showrunner and Walking Dead veteran Channing Powell. Directors for the first season include Deborah Kampmeier, Tara Nicole Weyr, and Michael Satrazemis, another Walking Dead veteran.

The episodes will be anthology-based, with each telling a different story. This gives a lot of opportunity for new stories as well as some origin or offshoot stories. It is an exciting concept that will be different from anything else within The Walking Dead universe.
