While The Walking Dead franchise is one of television's most successful, it's hard to feel great about everything when there are only two ongoing spinoffs keeping it alive. Seriously, what's going on? Daryl Dixon is about to end its run with its fourth and final season this year, and that just leaves Dead City.
There's already a rumor swirling around that Dead City might be done after its upcoming third season. So, what does that leave us with? A previously ordered spinoff that has gone without updates since its initial order? If you've been keeping up with the franchise lately, then you know fans have every right to be concerned about its future.
Besides Daryl Dixon and Dead City, the only other Walking Dead spinoff that AMC has actually put into motion in any official capacity is More Tales from the Walking Dead Universe. However, there has been complete radio silence on this particular spinoff since AMC first announced it in 2023.
It's currently 2026. We definitely should have seen this anthology spinoff series hit TV screens already. If not, there should have at least been an update on its development status, casting news, or some indication that scripts were being written. Most Walking Dead fans have completely lost hope that it'll ever come out, with others speculating that AMC might have quietly canceled it.
As of right now, More Tales from the Walking Dead Universe is technically still a go at the network. However, I’d argue it might be time for AMC to move on from it altogether. I think that there's much more demand for another Walking Dead spinoff.
AMC needs to officially order a Walking Dead crossover spinoff

Look, hear me out. The Walking Dead fandom is always talking about how they miss the OG characters on screen together. Sure, we get to see Daryl and Carol together in Daryl Dixon and Negan and Maggie in Dead City, but that's simply not enough. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy seeing each pairing in their respective spinoffs, but don't you think it would be even better if we got to see all four of them back together again?
A Walking Dead crossover spinoff would do just that! In fact, there was a rumor going around late last year about one. In November 2025, industry insider Daniel Richtman posted on his X page that AMC was reportedly developing a crossover series that would bring together characters from across The Walking Dead universe.
While specific characters were not named, fans immediately started filling in the blanks themselves. That could potentially mean seeing Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Carol, Negan, Maggie, Eugene, Ezekiel, and many other survivors all sharing the screen again. The only problem is that this is just a rumor. AMC nor The Walking Dead CCO Scott M. Gimple has confirmed anything of the sort.
However, this is the Walking Dead spinoff that the network needs to be putting its focus on. Forget More Tales from the Walking Dead Universe! Many fans didn't like Tales of the Walking Dead in the first place, and More Tales from the Walking Dead Universe is basically the same show but with new stories.
AMC needs to give fans what they truly want, and that's seeing their favorite characters fighting walkers side by side again in a Walking Dead crossover spinoff. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the network actually decides to lean into that idea.
Stay tuned to Undead Walking for any new updates on The Walking Dead universe!
