We're three months into the new year, and things haven't been looking too great when it comes to new zombie content. There have been just a few zombie films, and no new zombie shows. It looks like we'll have to wait until further in the year for a proper dose of undead action.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4 is confirmed for release sometime this year, as is a brand-new Resident Evil movie. There's even a chance that The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 might come out in 2026 as well. But for now, we'll just have to stick to rewatching old zombie shows and movies.

The good news is that one of the new zombie flicks from this year is scheduled to make its way to Netflix soon. How soon? We're talking in just a couple of weeks! For those who missed this zombie film when it was showing in theaters, now is your time to finally see what all the hype is about.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple set for March 2026 release on Netflix

Remember when we said only a few zombie flicks have been released so far this year? If we're being honest, the only good one was 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. It hit theaters in January 2026 and received critical acclaim as well as a lot of love from regular viewers. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for We Bury the Dead and This Is Not a Test. Those two 2026 zombie films were complete snoozefests, and you can see that from their Rotten Tomatoes scores alone.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will be released on Netflix on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The streaming giant made a big announcement about this good news via its official X page. The official release date was even shared on the movie's title page on Netflix. So, it's really official! Although the release time for the film is unknown, there's a good chance it could drop on Netflix at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET. That's when the streaming giant typically releases new content on its platform.

We knew 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple would eventually arrive on Netflix due to the streaming giant's deal with Sony Pictures (the film's distributor). The first movie, 28 Years Later, is already available to stream. Now, the sequel is about to join its predecessor on the platform.

What's so great about 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is that it doesn’t just deliver the usual infected mayhem. It cranks the tension, gore, and psychological horror up to an entirely new level. Nia DaCosta directed the film from a screenplay written by Alex Garland.

The story picks up immediately after the events of 28 Years Later and thrusts its protagonists into a world where the collapse of society has twisted humans as much as the Rage Virus has warped the infected. We follow young survivor Spike, who has been captured by a sadistic cult called the “Fingers,” led by the deranged Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal. Spike finds himself forced into brutal initiation rites that test his survival and morality.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ian Kelson works on the Bone Temple, a macabre ossuary memorial, and forms an unlikely bond with an Alpha infected named Samson. What's unique about Samson is that he shows signs of lingering humanity. As Spike navigates the horrors of human cruelty and Kelson confronts the mysteries of the infected, their paths eventually collide.

Alfie Williams and Ralph Fiennes star in the leading roles of Spike and Dr. Ian Kelson. Also in the cast are Jack O'Connell, Erin Kellyman, Chi Lewis-Parry, Emma Laird, Sam Locke, Cillian Murphy, and many others.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is slated to make its landing on Netflix on March 31. Don't forget to save this important date!
