This year has been a big one for fans of the beloved Walking Dead franchise. AMC continued to tell the stories of the TWD Universe offshoots, with new seasons of spinoffs Daryl Dixon and Dead City taking longtime franchise characters Daryl, Carol, Maggie and Negan to new territories - literally in the case of the former two, who ended up in both London and Spain.
Adding to that, star of the original show Andrew Lincoln has teased another comeback in the future, which has understandably left fans excited for what's to come in 2026 and beyond from the franchise.
All that being said, there is one more surprise to come from 2025.
Daryl Dixon season 3 arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray on December 9
The long-awaited third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has officially arrived on DVD and Blu-Ray. The season 3 set is released in US stores and online as of Tuesday, December 9, meaning that long-standing TWD fans can add it to their collection. Ironically, UK fans can also add it to their collections this week, as it was released at the top of the week (Monday, December 8) internationally, even though it was only just recently broadcast in the UK and Ireland.
International fans are also in for a treat, as they can now purchase a The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon seasons 1 - 3 boxset. Although it isn't available in all locations, complete "story so far" boxsets for ongoing shows are somewhat of a rarity these days as complete boxsets are normally reserved for finished shows.
Daryl Dixon returned to AMC and AMC+ for its third season in September, which marked a significant change for the show. Up until that point, it had been set in France, but when it controversially killed off the vast majority of its supporting cast, Daryl and Carol began a long journey back to the US through the Chunnel. Season 3 opened with them in London before they were able to make their way to Spain on a boat. They had hoped to arrive in the US within 17 days but they were ultimately shipwrecked on the Spanish shore, close to a village named Solaz del Mar.
The seven-episode third season saw the duo form new bonds with the new characters around them, but they also very quickly saw that the place their needed their help. And with that, they began to root out the evildoers, attempting to protect their new friends and free the village from the corrupt leaders at El Alcazar.
The show was renewed for a fourth and final season, which is expected to be set in Spain too. With an eight-episode count, it's safe to say that fans are anticipating that Daryl and Carol will wrap up their storylines in Spain before heading back to the US - and actually making it this time. The future of the characters beyond the Daryl Dixon series finale seems unclear right now, but it is pretty clear that we haven't seen the last of them. AMC's Chief Content Officer of the Walking Dead Universe, Scott Gimple, has implied that we will see them again at some point, reiterating that Daryl Dixon's conclusion after four seasons is simply the end of this particular story.

Although Daryl Dixon is coming to an end, Dead City has more stories left to tell for the foreseeable. The TWD spinoff was also renewed for another season, with so signs or references to it potentially being the final offering from it. That brings its season-count to three thus far, and after the interesting ending to the second season, we're excited for what adventures await Maggie, Negan, Hershel, and Perlie Armstrong in Manhattan.
In the meantime, as you wait for new episodes of Daryl Dixon, you can revisit the grandeur of the third season on DVD or Blu-Ray. After how good it was, you know you want to!
Daryl Dixon season 4 is expected to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2026.
