Wow, has the time flown by! Weren't we just ringing in the new year, making resolutions we probably forgot by February, and wondering what surprises the year would bring? And now here we are, already looking back at all the crazy, unforgettable moments that have made 2025 one to remember!

For Walking Dead fans, two memorable moments this year were the airings of The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 on AMC. As expected, both new installments delivered everything fans could hope for and more. Now, everyone's looking forward to what the new seasons have in store. Daryl Dixon's fourth and final season is confirmed to start airing sometime in 2026, while Dead City season 3 is expected to premiere next year as well. No confirmation on that one just yet, though.

However, there hasn't been much news about The Walking Dead franchise in a while. Well, that's until now. December has reignited excitement across the fandom with whispers of a big development on the horizon and the confirmation that a new season of one of The Walking Dead's best spinoffs is coming to Netflix. Perhaps you've been out of the loop on everything that's been going on. No worries! We're about to bring you up to speed right now.

Walking Dead crossover spinoff

Sadly, The Walking Dead franchise has only two ongoing spinoffs at the moment. Fans have been wondering what the future holds for the zombie franchise and if there will be more spinoffs to expand the universe even further. But while there have been talks about potential new projects, there haven't been any official announcements. Well, there's More Tales from the Walking Dead Universe, but that spinoff might have been quietly axed.

Now, there's a rumor going around that a crossover series is in development at AMC. It would reportedly bring together the different spinoffs. In other words, we could potentially see Rick, Michonne, Maggie, Negan, Daryl, Carol, and even Morgan all sharing the screen again. Perhaps you're familiar with industry insider Daniel Richtman. He was the first to report on this rumored crossover. If it does really happen, it would easily be the biggest event in The Walking Dead universe to date.

There's always this talk of when the zombie franchise will finally end. A crossover series could be that last grand chapter, bringing together the most iconic characters and storylines for an epic conclusion. Who am I kidding? We still need that Judith spinoff as well!

Dead City season 2 is coming to Netflix in December 2025

In addition to the buzz about a potential Walking Dead crossover spinoff, December has also brought the exciting news that Dead City season 2 will finally be coming to Netflix. The streaming giant hasn't made a big announcement, but we went and took a peek at the show's title page on the platform. What's listed is an official release date for the second installment. Dead City season 2 will make its landing on Netflix on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, aka New Year's Eve.

This news might not be that exciting to fans who watched the second season when it was airing on AMC. But for those who missed it during its AMC broadcast or for fans who want to binge the season in one go, this is pretty huge. The first season ended on a thrilling cliffhanger, so Netflix subscribers now have the perfect chance to see how the story picks up and unfolds. It's been quite a journey for Negan and Maggie in the walker-infested streets of New York!
