Does Rick Grimes return in the NEW Walking Dead spinoff series?

Many fans of The Walking Dead believe the series went downhill with the departure of Andrew Lincoln, who portrayed Rick Grimes since the pilot. Lincoln's leaving the series stemmed from his need to spend time with his family, which is understandable. The series, whose primary focus had been Rick as leader of a group of survivors, suffered when he left in season 9. Does Rick return in the new spinoff?

The Walking Dead universe comprises the main series, three spinoffs with their own stories, and three spinoffs focusing on characters introduced in The Walking Dead. The newest spinoff in the universe, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, is the most highly anticipated series due to the return of Rick Grimes. Additionally, Michonne, portrayed by Danai Gurira since season 3, also returns to the TWDU.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

AMC will premiere the first episode of The Ones Who Live, titled "Years," on Sunday, February 24, at 9 p.m. AMC+ subscribers can watch the episode at 3 a.m. ET.

Rick and Michonne return in the continuation of their epic love story, which also sees them fighting for their lives as they seek each other out. They were originally parted in season 9 when Rick, in a selfless act, blows up a bridge to protect those he loves. Michonne, believing he died, continued to lead the communities and raised Rick's children, Judith and RJ, a son of whom Rick has no knowledge. In season 10, Michonne encounters clues that signify Rick survived. Since then, she has moved heaven and earth in her quest to reunite with her love.
