Happy Birthday to The Walking Dead's own Josh McDermitt
It is hard to believe that The Walking Dead's main series has been off our screens for nearly two years. Thankfully, fans have had several spin-offs for extra TWD goodness. And even more are on the way.
The next TWDU spin-off series fans can look forward to is the highly anticipated Daryl Dixon: The Book of Carol, which is airing in autumn this year. Fan favorite Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) will be returning in her quest to find and reunite with Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and bring him back home.
There have been many previous TWD mothership franchise characters that have popped up in various spin-offs. Dr. Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt) was left happily married to Max Mercer (Margot Bingham) with a new daughter but has not been in a spin-off yet. Josh McDermitt brought many emotions to fans of the franchise with his portrayal of Dr. Smartypants, and his talents do not stop at TWD. Through the years, he has brought so many exceptional characters to life. Today is McDermitt's 46th birthday; have a Happy Birthday, Josh.
Josh McDermitt's upcoming projects
Fans of Josh McDermitt have a fair bit of his up-and-coming work to look forward to. One of these projects is the factional feature Lily, the story of Lily Ledbetter and her fight for equal pay for women. McDermitt portrays Dan McGinty, who questions Ledbetter's mission. The release date is still to be confirmed. Director (Rachel Feldman) says on her website that it will be released this year.
And that is not all. McDermitt has been cast in a spin-off of the smash hit series Suits. This new series, Suits: LA, had the pilot filmed in Canada in March this year. McDermitt has taken the role of Stuart Lane, who owns a law firm in partnership with Ted Black (Stephen Amell). He has recently been praised for his on-screen talent as Stuart from previews.
A few fans were lucky to meet McDermitt at this year's The Camp Convention in Peach Tree City Atlanta, which was his first US convention appearance since 2018. Fans were delighted to have the chance to take photos with him, get autographs, and even play charades with the man himself for a few event ticket holders. It's great to see him back!
Let's hope we continue to see more of his acting talents brought to our screens and some more convention appearances in the future. And more than anything, respect from the fandom. A very Happy Birthday again, Josh!
