Netflix has a long list of incredible titles dropping in June 2025. Among them is Kevin Williamson's latest series, The Waterfront. The series features an outstanding cast, which includes Jake Weary, who appeared in the second season of AMC's The Walking Dead: Dead City.
Williamson, known for Scream, created and executive produced the series. Filming took place in North Carolina, specifically Wilmington and Southport, the same locations for Dawson's Creek and I Know What You Did Last Summer, two other titles from Williamson. The eight-part series features Marcos Siega (Dexter: Resurrection, You) as director for the first two episodes.
The Waterfront stars Holt McCallany (The Iron Claw, Mindhunter), Maria Bello (BEEF, A History of Violence), Melissa Benoist (The Girls on the Bus, Supergirl) and Jake Weary (Oh, Canada, Neon’s How to Blow Up a Pipeline) as members of the Buckley family that that story focuses on. They are joined by additional cast members Rafael L. Silva, Humberly González, Danielle Campbell, Brady Hepner, and guest star Topher Grace.
The Waterfront is set in the fictional town of Havenport, North Carolina, and is inspired by actual events. It examines the dysfunctional dynamics of the Buckley family and the lengths they will go to ensure their legacy isn't tarnished.
For decades the Buckley family has been a key component in the fishing and restaurant industry but things begin to decline after Harlan Buckley (McCallany) experiences two heart attacks. His wife (Bello) and son (Weary) navigate treacherous waters to keep the businesses above water.
All eight episodes of The Waterfront will premiere on Netflix on June 19. Check out the official trailer below.
Jake Weary - Walking Dead: Dead City
In 2024, Weary was announced as a cast member for the Dead City spinoff series at SDCC along with Dascha Polanco, Keir Gilchrist, and Pooya Mohseni. Weary portrays Christos, the leader of a gang in Manhattan, who comes against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who is working for an opposing gang led by the Dama (Lisa Emery). The series recently aired the season's fourth episode of eight, but so far, little has been seen of Christos, although he has been mentioned often.
Weary recently starred in a Netflix original action thriller, Trigger Warning, led by Jessica Alba. The film also stars Mark Webber, Tone Bell, Gabriel Basso, and Anthony Michael Hall. The story follows Parker (Alba), a special forces commando who returns home after the tragic death of her father.
The actor also appeared in the drama Oh, Canada, starring Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, Michael Imperioli, Jacob Elordi, Victoria Hill, and Kristine Froseth. The film's description reads: Leonard Fife, one of sixty thousand draft evaders and deserters who fled to Canada to avoid serving in Vietnam, shares all his secrets to de-mythologize his mythologized life. It is available on Prime Video for rent or purchase.
