Colman Domingo is making another major leap on the big screen, and it’s far removed from the post-apocalyptic world that made him a fan favorite. The Fear the Walking Dead standout has officially joined the cast of The Servant, a psychological thriller film already drawing attention for its A-list ensemble, acclaimed filmmaker, and a premise rooted in one of cinema’s most unsettling cult classics.

The project brings together an impressive lineup. Domingo stars alongside Nicholas Hoult (Superman), Emma Corrin (The Crown), and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place movies). Of course, Walking Dead fans know Domingo best as Victor Strand from Fear the Walking Dead. Victor is a smooth-talking, unpredictable survivor who evolves from an opportunistic conman to one of the franchise’s most compelling long-running characters.

That role helped define Domingo’s presence in genre television, but The Servant pushes him into an entirely different kind of tension. We're talking one rooted not in survival horror, but in psychological and emotional control.

The Servant is a reimagining of the 1963 Joseph Losey film of the same name, which was written by Harold Pinter. Francis Lee (God’s Own Country, Ammonite) is signed on as director and will pen the script for the retelling. Blueprint Pictures and Film4 are producing, with Mk2 bringing the project to the Cannes market and handling international sales. Additionally, the cameras are reportedly scheduled to start rolling on the film sometime in January 2027.

At the center of The Servant's story is a power struggle between two men living in the same orbit but coming from entirely different worlds. Hoult leads the film as Tony, a privileged Englishman who relocates to an apartment overlooking Central Park in 1950s New York. What begins as a life of privilege and comfort quickly unravels when he becomes entangled in a dangerous psychological game with his manservant, Barrett, played by Domingo.

While it's known who Hoult and Domingo will be playing in the film, it's unknown who Corrin and Jupe will portray at this stage. However, given the psychological and relationship-driven nature of The Servant, their characters will likely play key roles in the increasingly unstable dynamic surrounding Tony and Barrett.

For Domingo, this new role marks another major step in a career that has rapidly expanded beyond television. Fans can currently catch him in Euphoria season 3 or head to the theaters to see him in the Michael Jackson biopic. When it comes to upcoming projects, there's The Four Seasons season 2 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2. There's also the upcoming movies Disclosure Day and An Innocent Girl.

So, in other words, there’s much to look forward to from Domingo!
