During the past 10 years, when fans worldwide have watched The Walking Dead Universe unfold beneath their very eyes, many questions have been pondered before becoming clear. Fans have been kept on the edge of their seats, wondering what surprises (or walkers) will be around the corner. Especially with all the cliff-hangers, we can be left on, let’s not talk about 616 “Last Day on Earth.”

One of the main draws for this show comes down to each character and their story. Not only for them as an individual, but how they find common ground with people they would never have dreamed of growing close to pre-apocalypse. They grow together to create new arcs for them both. Many different folks make up this world, and you never know who you could find!

One fierce character who came to our screens back in 410 “Inmates” was Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos), who is now one of the longest appearing characters. And what an impact she has made so far. But, with one season still left to go, the future for her may seem a little uncertain.

What does Season 11 of The Walking Dead hold for Rosita Espinosa?

Although we caught a glimpse of Rosita in 1016 “A Certain Doom,” and the last spoken scene we had of her was 1014 “Look at the Flowers.” This certainly wasn’t her most action-packed scene ever, as she lay wounded whilst Eugene (Josh Mcdermitt) looked at her injuries. He offers to get Alex (Alexandria’s Nurse) to help her, but she kindly declines and urges that he confess to the group about his radio friend, Stephanie. He agrees to do so whilst Rosita watches on.

But as we look ahead to the future of The Walking Dead, the warrior that is Rosita still has a lot to offer. This will be unlike the comics, as she was married to Eugene and then sadly became a victim to Alpha when her head was put onto a pike. This was a very brutal end that we know she won’t (thankfully) face during Season 11 as the Whisperer war has ended, and she wasn’t one of the characters who unfortunately met their demise.

Regarding what the future holds for her, we can see in one of the new promo photos and teasers released that she, along with Carol, Lydia and Maggie, seems to be battling more of the dreaded undead that put them in constant danger. We also see helicopters, which have become all too familiar in the TWDU, in the background. Rosita has always had a clear head when fighting in the past and has taken on some of the biggest threats we have seen in the show – but we have also seen strong fighters make one wrong turn and have to pay the ultimate price. I can’t even think about 509 “What Happened and What’s Going On” when Tyreese (Chad Coleman) was tragically bitten.

The options are very open as to where Rosita’s journey could take her. She could be taken into the Commonwealth and used for her fighting skills to protect the community or lead a revolt against them to rescue her captured friends. A safe return to Alexandria could be in the cards, where she can remain in the safety of her home with Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) and Coco.

I think it is pretty clear that Rosita won’t sit around and do nothing, knowing that people she cares about are in danger. I think we will see a lot of cool fights from her, contrasted with some tender scenes really showing all sides of her that we have grown to know. I really hope that nothing awful happens to her, and she has her happy ending with Gabriel and Coco, but with The Walking Dead, nothing is ever guaranteed.

We can see what is next for Rosita when The Walking Dead returns on AMC on August 22, Star on Disney Plus on August 23 for UK fans.
